My Studio Window Oil on Linen My studio is located in a great old stone mansion with the name Greystone. I think it's wonderful when a house is old enough or grand enough to have a name. My studio looks north over a column with a large ball on top. Perhaps it's not the most decorative aspect of the building, but it has a wonderful habit of bouncing light around. It can go from blue in the morning to orange later in the day and, depending upon the Crepe Myrtle tree beside it, can reflect that color as well. This day the tree was in bloom. I couldn't stand it any longer and took the portrait I was painting, off the easel and turned my attention toward the window. If it ever snows here I will stop everything and paint it again. |
