Horse and Palettes Oil on Canvas Panel My family and I have been going to H & G Horse Quarters since the stable opened two years ago. It is an equestrian facility that boards horses and teaches the English style of riding. The farm is beautiful and I have always thought that a bunch of horses adds to the beauty of any pasture. (I feel the same way about cows.) That said, horses have an annoying habit of always having their heads down. Their main interest in the world is not giving pleasure to humans but finding out how much grass they can eat in a single day. This painting was supposed to be a painting of a stack of palettes in the shade with no horses in sight. In this case, however, the horse wandered in and wouldn't leave. Therefore he became part of the painting, with his head down of course. |
